127th Entry, Brienzwiler
It is the last day of the year 2023, which was an eventful year personally and globally.
Every now and then I get overwhelmed and worry about my livelihood. After so many years of being self-employed – 25 of them – I should be able to look past it, as so many small and big miracles have happened in my artwork and life. Yes, yes, the mind can drive you pretty crazy at times. They are small worries and they pass. Just like everything else in this world.
I am in the studio and am currently working on eight different pieces. I have so many ideas and two healthy hands that want to work. The holidays are what slow me…
The last artwork of the year was completed on December 29, 2023. I have named it Blue Star. It is a sun-shaped structure carved in wood, measuring 70 x 70 cm, with a shimmering blue glass sphere in the center, painted with oil paints in various shades of blue. The colors appear slightly muted, mystical, and calm. The inspiration came from little Moritz, brought into the world on December 27, 2023, by our second daughter Noëmi.
We are happy and enchanted.
