120th Entry, Morcote

Franziska, our dog Bobby, and I are on a four-day holiday here in Morcote, in the southern part of Switzerland on Lake Lugano.

I am fulfilling my childhood dream because the village of Morcote, with its picturesque houses and the time-honored church of Santa Maria del Sasso, existed as a puzzle in our home. As a family, we put this puzzle together many times, and I always liked the Romanesque church tower from the 15th century surrounded by cypress trees that flanked the church like large green candles.

Exploring this area with Franziska and Bobby gives me great pleasure. Everything here is inspiring: the silver glittering lake, the dancing and contentedly chirping barn swallows, the colorful stone houses with the narrow and cobbled streets, the chirping of the cicadas, the wailing call of the herring gulls, the blooming oleander trees and wildly-growing passion flowers. And last but not least, the fine Ticinese food.

Oh, it is quite wonderful here.
