154th Entry, Brienzwiler

Earthy lights emerge. They are small works of natural art. Having sprouted as a seedling in the earth and grown over the years into a stately tree, weathering storms and heat, enduring many summers and winters, maturing over the years. Beauty has had time to develop and becomes visible, even when the tree lies on the ground, decomposing and being reabsorbed by the earth itself, from which it once sprang.

The wood I use is that part of the mountain spruce branch hidden within the trunk, which I twist out after the decomposition process has been underway for several years. At the right time and in the right place, I find the wood and listen to what it tells me. They are small treasures that I enhance with a crystal—usually limonite quartz—and gold leaf, thereby giving the wood light and dignity. They are as individual and unique as we humans: headstrong, resilient, weathered by storms, rich in experience, wise, and beautiful in their old age.

Much is being reported, and much is happening on Earth at the moment. Even small, good things, of which we know nothing at present, that may one day become something great.
