90th entry, Brienz
It saddens me to witness how fearful and obedient people are. New cases of Covid-19 infections are increasing each day, and almost daily the government announces new measures to combat the virus.
Fear has always been a terrible counselor because fearful people can very easily be controlled and manipulated. Such a person believes the state, the politician, the police, the doctor, the preacher, the teacher, and so on.
Perhaps I am wrong, but I would rather make mistakes and follow a difficult individual path where truth, freedom, and intuition are always safe companions.
A related story:
Death sits before the old city walls and waits. A scholar comes by, sits down with him, and asks, “What are you doing here?” Death answers, “I am going into the city to collect 100 men.” The scholar runs into the city and excitedly calls out, “ Death is coming and will take 100 people!” Subsequently, all the people panic, run into their houses, and lock themselves away for many weeks. 5000 people die. As the scholar leaves the city, death is still waiting there and he angrily says, “You wanted to take 100 people, but it was 5000!” Death answered, “I took 100 sick and old, just like every week. The rest were taken with fear, for which you were responsible.”
